Failure Friday

Ready for vacation.

Yesterday, failure Friday, I pick Bella up from pre-school early. I surprise her with lunch at McDonald's. I even drive out of the way to go to the one with the purple slide. This is where we meet the sock Nazi. Apparently you can no longer play at the playland in bare feet. And if you do not have socks, you can buy them form $1. I feel like a bad mom that I'm behind on McDonald's etiquette. But luckily we have socks in the car. However, I do now wonder what these McDonald's socks look like. I then take her to buy costly tennis shoes for walking through Disney World, but they are cute. And I even buy some socks. Ronald would be so proud.

Later in the evening I am forced to drag her to the mall as I realize my ass has gotten too big for the shorts I didn't wear all summer. At least I get a good buy, and we head to get some dinner. Bella picks Johnny Rockets in the food court. She happily twirls in her red and chrome diner chair sipping her chocolate milkshake and eating fries. Healthy, I'm a health conscious mom, can't you tell. I eat my cheeseburger, cheese fries and strawberry shake, because I really want to fill out my new fat pants/shorts. I want to get my money's worth!

We decide to head home. But Bella has a moment of hesitation before stepping on the escalator. She yells, "Wait for me." As I glide up with the packages and my purse. Quickly, I try to moonwalk it back to the floor, but I'm only keeping pace with the escalator and I'm staying in the same spot. Bella tries to get on the escalator. Bella tries to get back off the escalator and now she is spread eagle on her tummy with her face pointing down and her feet up. I drop everything and jump down to where she and the chocolate shake are sprawled. I assess that all fingers are free and I scoop her up. I check for blood. No blood. We have now reached the top floor. I swoop all packages and purse out of the way and further assess my child.

She is fine except for the skid mark on her knee and her new fear of escalators. I can only hope Disney makes-up for it all.
