What movie has been most influential in your life?
Not a fair question, as I cannot limit to just one myself. I have to say for better or worse, probably worse, I was greatly influenced by "Gone With The Wind." Scarlett is not exactly a great role model. But she was mine. In fact, when I was about 8ish, my mother asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, and I said, "A well-kept woman." She quickly got that idea out of my head, and she was right. However, some days I think there was some wisdom in that well-kept woman philosophy. (interesting side note: Vivian Leigh - Bipolar)
Then I'd have to say all the "Indian Jones" and "Star Wars" movies. What would childhood have been without Harrison Ford? What would I have played? It was Raiders of the Lost Ark or Star Wars - in the woods, in the tree house, etc. Plus, as an adult I've found "stay on target" a good motto. But even that line of thinking can be overdone.
Finally, there's "It's A Wonderful Life." It is? Well, I keep holding on to that belief, but sometimes I do feel like George on that bridge. I think George is one of the most romantic figures in cinema. I love that movie. And yes, even this Christmas I will be watching the movie and ringing my tired, rusty little bell (that my parents had from their first place) on my tree. My menorah will be on the mantel. And I'll try not to light fire to any gifts or the house this year. (That's last year's story, oops!) I've got to say through the years the meanings and memories just keeping layering on with this movie.
So, I've been influenced by an amalgamation of a southern belle, gun-slinging archaeologist, smart mouthed princess, and a working-man at his wits end. What does that say about me?
What do your favorite movies say about you?

I can't think of any movie that has "shaped" my life.... i know my favorites are fantasies or comedies and Goonies/Princess Bride/ Austin Powers are among the favs also Office Space/ The Ref/ and the Indiana Jones and Star Wars are good ones. I do know I have only watched 'ET' once when I saw it in the theater as a kid and it was very upsetting to me when the agents came. I haven't watched it again since. One horror movie is the reason I hate roaches so much and hate horror movies (thanks Julie). And any movie provides good lines to quote. I watch dramas too (i just don't usually re-watch them)OH and one of my favs is Charade with Audry Hepburn and Carey Grant--the witty banter rivals anything written today.
When I was younger I watched just about anything, suspense, horror, comedy, drama, whatever. Now I don't have any interest in horror flicks, I don't have any interest in the "Lets dump my fiancde for this other person I just met" bull. I still like the fantasy stuff that I did as a child. Star Wars movies, Now the Pirates of the Johnny Depp movies. :-) I think escaping reality is something I enjoy a lot. I'm not sure what that says about how I was shaped. Hmmm.
