Supreme Court Does Not Use Supreme Judgement
The Supreme Court overturned a death sentence in Louisiana. The death sentence was for the rape of an 8 year-old girl. The Supreme Court stated that the death penalty would be cruel and unusual punishment for rape of child, if the child lives. I heartily disagree. They went on to cite the trauma that the ongoing court case would inflict upon the victim if the death penalty was sought. I think this is an excuse. I think this is another case where the victim pays the price. There is not a crime more heinous than those committed against children. These children lived through a fate worse than death. I think a person that commits rape of a child has forfeited their right to live. Here's the link for your review. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/26/washington/26scotuscnd.html?_r=1&oref=slogin
