Watchout there's a Wouch

Warning: There’s a Wouch and a Bouch on our couch.

Bella was reading “There’s a Wocket in My Pocket” to K.C. last night. This evolved into a game of inventing Wockets, Jertains and Findows of our own in our house. During bath time we had a Bub and a Sub in the tub, a Yoddi in the potty, and Yubs on the bath rug. We had to name them and describe them down to every detail: color, shape, size, personality, and habits. For instance the Yubs on the rug loved to be walked on, because it tickles. Oh, and the Boap on the soap pinches your toes unless you sing him a song. It’s quite an active household.

But still I was not prepared for this Wouch and Bouch on my couch. “What do they like?” she asked me. In my distraction from setting up her snack, I replied “I don’t know. I guess they like to be sat on if they decided to live on the couch.”

“Oh, yeah! And they like the crack,” she said.
“What?”
“You know the crack. It’s their clubhouse,” she said pointing to her bottom.

Thanks, Dr. Seuss for your inspiration in my house.
No, really, sincerely, I don’t mean to grouse.
But be careful of the Bouch and the Wouch,
If you come sit on our couch.

anon#1 ...did Matthew's love of the Wocky inspire Bella to read it again? This is one of his favorite books...he goes and gets it and says "read Wocky". I almost have this book memorized... so I like your additions. But i think i will avoid your couch from now on. "my crack" likes to be left alone. It's noone's clubhouse!

What's really bad is when my kid starts making up nonsense words in Spanish by changing a couple of consonants and vowels. You don't want to know what he did with "semana."

How do you know Howard?

He's my mentor in the MFA progam. Do you know him?

Howard gave me an ancient computer once. My mother was taught by him, too, and later became an assistant prof herself in the same department.
